Reflection Discussion

I have taken away an incredible amount of new knowledge with me from this course. I learned about assistive technology and how to use it in my classroom. I was able to interview other teachers that work in the same district as me and learn from them to better myself and the way I teach. Finally, I learned about putting connections between technology and the Bible.   I was challenged to stretch myself to find the newest technology that I didn’t know about and learn it quickly. It’s pushed me to look at all of my students and see how I can better aid them with technology. I want to use technology more in all of my classes moving forward. I truly have enjoyed this class and how it has challenged me to grow. Thank you so much.

Assistive Technology Video Discussion

Because I have a wide range of students in my classes and teach multiple subjects, I like to incorporate technology to be able to meet the needs of all of my students. I have one student specifically that is visually impaired. She has someone that take her books and any work that I get to her in time and she will increase the font as necessary for her. Some times when I don’t get information to her in time, I will electronically send the document to her and she can use her laptop or phone to pull it up and increase the font. I use Google Classroom a lot to allow this for her and other students. Having electronic copies aids parents as well as students. I really enjoyed doing research on assistive technology and it led me to more resources. Two sources that I found that I would love to do more research on and utilize in my classroom for this student specifically are Seeing AI and Speechify. These came from an article on Built In. Technology Lesson Demonstration

Technology Lesson Demonstration Assignment I selected to use Pear Deck because it was suggested in the text. I have not used this type of program before and I was interested in trying something new that would interest my students. I think it was a huge success with my students. They love competition but still were able to study their homophones. I think that this program is beneficial for my students. It gave them examples that were at their level and allowed them to learn through the game. They liked both options when I used it in class. On their own, I do not think they would do the questions as is without a game aspect, however. With my lesson being on homophones, we have listed all of the applicable homophones and listed their meanings. Using technology, I can differentiate through Giant Steps. I even have some students that need a lower level and it is possible to give those students a different grade level game to provide them opportunities to be successful in their lea...
